Letters from our Guests

January 19, 2003

I was impressed with how personal and open every body at the ranch was!! Thank you for your hospitality! I wish you the best of luck with the ranch. It was a pleasure to meet you!

Behdad

What can I say about CheTica?

Hummingbirds and horses, mountains and rivers, fruits on the trees and flowers, flowers everywhere, flowers in the meadows, flowers in the trees. This is one of the places where Gaia is manifest in all her glory!!

Thank you for everything!!

Carol

Tom and I thank you for the fine hospitality and loving care. Your “family circle” is an important part of healing.

We wish you both and Chetica success under your most able management.

Truly, Karla and Tom - Phoenix

Lorena and Ruben! Thank you for your care and hospitality. The food was magnificent. I will miss you but as I told you, I will try to be back soon

Love Iris.

Upon our arrival to San Jose, there was a friendly smiling face to greet us, this being Ruben,. The following morning we realized that the friendliness radiated from the whole household. Through your kindness, care and attention, you made us feel like we were part of your beautiful family. The food worked with love by Lorena, healed me from the inside out. Bertha and Marbel were always there with smiles if we needed anything at all. Carolina kept us entertained with her princesita and ballerina performances. Rubensito, congratulations on your good grades and we wish you continued success in your studies. We will leave here having made friends not only with your family, but also your guests. We hope someday to return as tourists to Costa Rica to see more of this beautiful country and Chetica will be our first stop. Wishing you continued success in al your endeavors. If ever your travel leads you to Richmond-Virginia, please don’t hesitate to call us.

Thank you for everything! Love Ximena and Lynn Tukey

She is just the sweetest girl and Marbel is just an angel with all the help she has given me. Thank you again Lorena & Ruben for the kindness you have shown.\

PS. I love the hair cut, love Cathy Steinbrennen from Michigan

June 11, 2003

Thank you for taking care of me after my surgery; I appreciate you opening your home up to me. That makes healing so much better; I just wish we had the time to visit the jungle or parks. For sure my next trip. You have very fine people working for you & I absolutely love the different cottages. It gives Che Tica its special charm. I think you two people are very special and have big hearts.

Lorena and Ruben

We promised to send something for your guest book. We can never began to equal your hospitality for the week we were there. When I first corresponded with you, Theresa said, “He makes your feel like family” This was even truer during our stay. I told you we wanted our granddaughter to have a memorable experience and everyone at the ranch did just that. The accommodations were as advertised but everyone there was FIVE STAR. Each meal was great and we all had new and delightful experiences. We all marveled and how much each one put into making not only our stay but also the stay of each guest special. Lorena is truly the Queen of the house, seeing after the menu, making curtains and specially making “tres leches cake”. This is as it should be; she is after all the mother of the lisle Princess of the Enchanted Woods and probably the Prince of Costa Rica football. Ruben you are the jack of all trades, tour guide, bus driver, procurement officer and to special little girls “Uncle Ruben” . We can always recommend “Che Tica” for those that are just tourist. While we witnessed the care extended to those for which the ranch was designed. As we shared their experiences we became even more like a big family.

Thank you and we will see you again, Carl, Theresa Collum and Katherine Roberts. Bedford-Texas

Ruben and Lorena

I know when I came here from the testimonials of others, and personal e-mail exchanges! Had with both of you, that would take care of me. I had utmost faith in Dr. Rashi who managed my many surgeries. What I didn’t know was how loving and warmly you would help me. There are some dark days undergoing such extensive surgery, and so far away from home, but you resolved my sadness and fear and warmed me in ways I so very much needed. Bless you! And great humor, too !! Marbel is smart and strong, Bertha attentive and caring; both helped me through so much. Give my e-mail Jligosky@pacbell.net to anyone who might be close to San Francisco or who wants to talk reconstructive surgery after massive weight loss.

Love to you and your family Jamie Ligosky.

June 18, 2003

June 25, 2003

Ruben & Lorena, thank you so much for opening your “recovery home|” to me during my surgery. You made the “home” part as important as the recovery. I do not think I missed any of Costa Rica because you represent your country and its hospitality so well. I look forward to seeing you again in the future. Marbel and Bertha are wonderful and make recovery comfortable. It has been a wonderful and rewarding stay at your home!

May God bless you! Joann Blanks

June, 2003

To Lorena, Ruben and the entire Che Tica family, the first part of my journey to Costa Rica began months ago with research. However, no e-mails and web-site visits could have prepared me for the warm, friendly, caring and professional service and atmosphere I have received at Che Tica. Beginning with the airport greeting, the braulio carrillo tour, all the m.d. visits, hand holding and sympathy, through the final stage of recovery, and finally helping me with the vacation itinerary everyone was lovely and wonderful. Thank you all for the big, and the little things you did for me. Let’s remember each other in our prayers and always thank and praise God for our lives and our families. Sincerely, Christine.

June 21, 2003

Dear Lorena and Ruben, Hi! Just want to let you know that I had a good, easy, trip back to New York City region. I apologize for the rush leaving, I was a little behind schedule! More importantly, I want to express my gratitude for all of your kindness, care and attention. Everyone at Chetica is extremely special in my heart; even the little bird that knocked on my window in the morning! Above all, I thank you for your conversations, your company…your friendship. Every single one of you at Chetica is so gentle, honest, and absolutely wonderful!! My stay at the ranch was so comfortable: I absolutely love the lit fireplace at night, the beautiful birds of paradise, and the great food. You have made my trip a very pleasant, memorable, and even enjoyable experience! Thank you. We will definitely keep in touch, because I know that you will be in my life for a very, very long time. Sending you both, Tito and Tita, Rubencito & Carolina, Bertha, and Fincho many hugs and lots of kisses. With much love, Rocio Robinson

July 10, 2003

Lorena and Ruben, It has been a great pleasure for me to get to know you and your family. Your warmth and open welcome have made me feel so good. The healthy meals and fresh juices have suddenly speeded my recovery. I hope to return to your paradise. If you are even in San Francisco please call! Love Yvette.

Thank you so much! P.S. All the wooden crafts and carvings are such a feast for the eyes, good luck with your creative plans for the future of CHETICA

July 11, 2003

Dear Lorena and Ruben, thank you for your kindness and hospitally, I enjoyed my stay so much I hope to be back next year. I also will recommend “Chetica” to all my friends. You are all such loving people. Thank you for opening your hearts and home. P.S. The food is great! Pattie DeVito, Naples-Fl.

July 15, 2003

Lorena and Ruben, this has been such a choice experience! I have loved Chetica – relaxing, warm and safe and caring. Just what I needed. That everyone here is so kind was an extra blessing. I hope you will be here a very very long, I will be back! God bless you in this great effort you make for others. I feel blessed to have been here. Much love to all of you, Cathy, |Boise-Idaho

July 21, 2003

I know my visit is not yet at an end but I didn’t want to miss getting a note in your Guest Book. The cottages are delightful! Each with a unique and friendly character. The food “WOW” the French toast itself was worth the trip. I hope you served it again…. But more then anything else the warmth and support I felt from everyone here has made this a true healing experience. The 1001 considerations and accommodations made me feel well taken care of, relaxed and allowed me to just let all my energies go to healing. That was a great gift. Thank you all. Blessed Patricia C. Seattle-Wa.

July 26, 2003

Coming down to meet Patricia, I had not expected to be here an extra five days. Home-the-less, the care and assistance I received here from my new friends at Chetica exc eed even the raves I had heard from her before my arrival. The food of course excellent as only home-made fare can be of the utmost healing properties, the surrounding and environment adding their touch, and the welcoming friendly people (the whole family) being an integral part of anyone’s recovery or enjoyment of this place. I cannot in these words, but simply hint at the thankfulness I have for their help, kindness, and hard work. I hope to return again for a visit when not so much in the dentist chair. Viva con Dios! Jian Lakerson.

August 2, 2003

What can I say about such beautiful people! You and your Marbel have made my stay in Costa Rica much more tolerable. As I have said many times, I feel like family. Thank you for everything! You are the best! May God continue to bless you and your family. Please stay in touch! Love to you Michelle

August 12, 2003

Lorena, Ruben and staff. They said “it takes a minute to know a person, an hour to get to know them, a day to love them, but a lifetime to forget them!” How can I forget your warmth and kindness! Hugs Sylvia

August 14, 2003

Dear Lorena and Ruben, the United States (and the rest of the world) has a lot to learn about health care and healing from the model you provide here. Beautiful natural surroundings animals and family. Traveling without our families was made much easy by the kind sharing of yours. You anticipated our every need and helped us keep all of our appointments without feeling rushed. Costa Rica is what health is all about! Thank you for everything. Sheryl and Robin

August 26, 2003

Lorena and Ruben, family and staff, thank you for making my stay here in Costa Rica so comfortable. When I first got off the plane I was so scared and along in this strange place. You guys made me so comfortable and happy. Costa Rica is a beautiful place to recover and you guys are one of the best families I have ever seen. I loved to see how you treat me but I also loved to see how you treat each other. I was originally supposed to recover at another place but I’m so glad it didn’t work out and I ended up at the Che Tica Ranch. Its funny how things work out. I feel like I know you guys forever. The Che Tica Ranch is like a home away from home. Right now I miss the U.S. but when I get home, I will miss Costa Rica. I can’t wait to come back but next time with my children. I want them to have the great experience that I have had here with you. Thank you again for everything you have given me. I will always recommend you to anyone coming to Costa Rica. I love you guys and you will be in my prayers always.

P.S. I forgot to tell you. Your food is sooooooooooooo good. Dolores Marr

August 31, 2003

To Ruben and Lorena, I’m having a nice, fun quiet pleasant stay at your ranch. Che Tica ranch has been wonderful. I’m really going to miss you guys but we can diffidently keep in touch. I am going to miss Carolina, Mama, Papa, your handsome son, Angie, Bertha, and most of all Silvia was the sweetest of them all. I love my surgery, you guys were the best, I highly recommend you guys. And I am very happy that I chose your ranch. Most of all, I am going to miss that cooking!! The food had to be the best. I e-mail you some of my photos of my life after surgery. Which I’m sure I will be looking good!! So thank you everything. And I hope to see you when my girlfriend comes to get her breast done. Love Bianca

September 21, 2003

Lorena and Ruben, we were so looking forward to our first trip to Costa Rica and we found a paradise well beyond our expectations! And we must say that staying here at Che Tica made the stay very comfortable, relaxing and we felt as though we were part of the family immediately. Everyone at the ranch treated us with “5 start” hospitality! Absolutely fabulous! Heather and Tammy Anchorage, AK. P.S. we love you and will miss seeing you until our next visit. God bless!!!

September 21, 2003

Dear Lorena and Ruben words can’t even begin to express how wonderful it has been to stay at chetica and be a part of your extended family. I am only sorry my tummy wasn’t up to eating more of your excellent cooking! I hope all your plans for the new cabins, etc. work out as you expect and will look forward to staying in one when I come next time. Best wishes to Bertha and Paul on there up coming wedding there really is a Cinderella! Also, my to Silvia who is so sweet and we had some interesting “conversations”. I am happy to sing all your praises to anyone who will listen! Love Sharon Johnson Tacoma, WA.

September 23, 2003

From the moment Ruben’s smiling friendly face picked us up at Santa Rita Hospital, we knew we were in stove for a wonderful experience. Arrival to our charming “Alpine” cabin continued our experience with Ruben whisking our baggage upstairs and Lorena presenting us with one of the first of our scrumptious meals. Sylvia and Bertha’s attentive service, always with a smile, was greatly appreciated. Ruben is the jack-of-all-trades, master of all. Lorena is….. Sister, friend, mother, confident, psychologist and chef extraordinaire Che Tica ranch will be a fond memory in our hearts and minds. As a last note, take advantage of the manicure and pedicure which includes a relaxing hand and foot massage! Nancy Smith, Los Angeles, CA.

And thank you so so much for loving concern and reassurance!! Carol Smith, Berkeley, CA.

September 25, 2003

Dear Ruben, Lorena, Carlos, Carmen, and family. I think you must be the luckiest people in the world. Your entire family gets to live and work together in the paradise of Che Tica. Your entire family is so loving and happy that the joy you all share radiates throughout the ranch. Those of us staying here get the benefit of all that love, happiness and joy flowering over and onto us. I felt very warm, safe, and cared for and want you to know how much I appreciate every single thing you did for me from sending me the little Princess mirror, to making French toast at breakfast at my request. I will never forget your wonderful family and my stay here. I was here an entire month!!. It went by in a blink of the eyes, I would like to thank Angie (sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye before you went to vacation), Bertha (I wish you and Paul a joyful live together), and Sylvia (you are such a hard worker, and you always have a loving, happy smile in your face), thanks to all three of you ladies for taking such great care of me, My afternoon “tea” was always the highlight of my day. Such a simple pleasure that I always looked forward to, especially on days I got a cookie or a treat with my tea. Fincho, thank you for the evening fires every night, my last week here. They just kept getting bigger and better every night. I will miss you all, Ruben so happy with his task list of 10.000 things to do next, is one of the truly friendliest people I have ever met, the lovely Lorena, five star chef, gracefully managing Paradise and all who visit, took me in her arms and comforted me the very morning I arrived. Carlos so happy and in love with his beautiful wife Carmen, is so at peace with himself and his life. And, most of all the mammy I adopted and who I would really like to take home with me, thank you. Carmen/Tita/mommy for every loving, gentle moment you spent with me. I will never forget you, and will miss you the most!! May God bless all of you and continue to watch over your family and all who visit Che Tica. Love Susan Woods

October 15, 2003

Dear Lorena and Ruben and your extended family, it wont be easy to express our feelings by way of writing regarding meeting and staying with you. There is a saying. “It is better to see a sermon than to hear one”. You two certainly fit that category. You cover to our need (and want) without hesitation. I am here to recover but have other things on my agenda besides recovering and Ruben, you are here to take me here and take me there. With a smile on your face. You run back and forth service times daily to San Jose and never look worried. Driving once into the city would make most of us crazy. You are so motivated as is evident by all the accomplishment here at Che Tica in a reasonable short time, with all the interruptions of picking up and dropping off, to stay focused on work to be done at Che Tica is quite a feat, and you have been successful. You are a real gentlemen opening and closing doors, helping our sore bodies in and out of cars, going into stores with us and help us pick out what we want making sure we pay what we’re supposed to (colones can be difficult!). You are always right there, and best of all, your family is so important, your expressions of love for Lorena, your loving care in bringing up Ruben and the sparkle in your eyes when you talk about and see Carolina are so very touching. These are but a few of our observations about you Ruben. And Lorena, the other half of this beautiful combination, Love extends from you. Its true that healing from physical point is important but by your kindness and attentiveness, we are helped to heal emotionally as well, to fell comfortable in a foreign country so far form home for two weeks in a pained state after extensive surgery seems impossible buy you have done for us, we started putting weight on the first week because of your fine cuisine and when we asked for less, you promptly changed to more suit our needs and the food was equal as delicious! You keep that kitchen running, Lorena I so appreciate your spirituality in a smooth manner. We do also appreciate all the effort Sylvia has put forth in our behalf. She is a hard worker and is a happy one as well. Bea and she enjoyed conversation in Spanish, that was good for Sylvia and gave then a closeness. So these are some of our observations and feelings about how well you have treated us. Both Bea and I appreciates how you have made us a part of your family, and we will always feel like family to you. The first week we missed our families a lot but by the time the second week started, this already has begun to feel like home, almost as though this how is home! That tells you what giving, loving, and hospitable people you are. Our time with you will always be remembered as so very special the environment at Che Tica by itself is healing. We can never say thank you enough for enhancing our stay in Costa Rica. We love your entire family. We pray that God’s blessing will continue with you. Love Faye and Bea

October 22, 2003

Dearest Lorena and Ruben y todos: everyone said glowing things about you and what you do, so I did have some good expectations, but this experiences has far surpassed them! Beyond the lovely setting wonderful food, happy attitudes and warm-hearted hospitality, there is something even more for me, a kind of inspiration and restoration of faith in human goodness and potential. This experience, coming here to Che Tica, having cosmetic surgery and dental work, has transformed more than my exterior, it has transformed my heart and opened my eyes to a more kind and loving way of life, the way you guys live your lives with generosity, patience and good cheer. (if you could bottle and sell your way of approaching life, you’d be billionaires!) You are already some of the richest people I have ever met-rich in everything worthwhile in life. I know no matter how great your future material success, you will remain the humble, grateful down to earth people you are now; I hate to take my leave of you. I have felt so comfortable, and there could hardly be a better environment to healing, your grateful, sad to leave, friend and guess with great hope to see you again!! Love, Barbara G, Seattle, WA.

October 28, 2003

Dear Lorena, Ruben and Bertha, thank you for your gracious hospitality. Your staff (Bertha) did a wonderful job in making sure we got everything we needed. This far we have enjoyed Costa Rica. We are now on our way to Jaco, to the real world Sabato. Sincerely, Lynn and Dick, from Nevada

October 31, 2003

Dear Bertha, Erick, and Silvia, it was a pleasure having you to help us. I only wish that we could have known how to understand Spanish. Lorena and Ruben, you have a really good staff working for you and your brother is a good kind person, you are very lucky to have him. Take care and good-bye with you, Lori and Rose, Seattle, WA.

November 7, 2003

Ruben and Lorena, now that I know you are probably back from Florida; (I hope you all had a good time and I trust Lorena passed her test with flying colors!), I wanted to again say thank you for everything you did.

As I wrote in the guest book, it was so lovely for me to be at Che Tica and to spend time around you both, and life changing; it was so renewing spiritually as well as physically. I don’t think I’d have healed as quickly and well had I stayed somewhere else, because the atmosphere and attitude there is so positive, together with the physical surrounding and excellent food and accommodations. I hope to see you again, and if the big plans come to pass I do hope you will call on me if you need English speaking staff! (I am studying my Spanish) with affection, Barbara

November 7, 2003

Dear Lorena and Ruben, what a wonderful experiences it’s been to spend time in your beautiful ranch! From the moment that Don Carlos y Doña Carmen picked me up at the airport, I knew I was in good hands. I don’t have enough words to say all the good things I would like about all of the family, including Erick and also Bertha. I hope to come back and stay with you in the very near future to enjoy your land, your horses and check out how the project is going. Thank you for your warmth, openness and cariño! You guys are great and I hope to keep in touch with you. Besos Mercedes P. Miami, Fla.

P.S. No se me olvida Fincho, el que hace las mejores candelas en la chimenea.

November 7, 2003

Dear Lorena and Ruben, thank you so much for taking me into your home, this being my first visit to Costa Rica I wasn’t sure what to expect. You and your staff are all very warm and loving. I only wish I could speak Spanish so I could have talked to them more. Ruben, you are way to busy!!! You need to stop for a minute to enjoy each day. Your are the best! Lorena, you are so sweet. You have a beautiful family and home and are a true joy to be around. Also, thank you for all delicious meals! You guys think about joining us on our Alaskan cruise in June 2005, it is a trip of a lifetime and we’d love for you to come along! Thanks for everything! Lisa G. Corinth-Texas

November 7, 2003

Dear Lorena and Ruben, I can’t thank you enough for your hospitality, the wonderful food and the way you try to accommodate everyone is amazing. You all do the work of 20 people. On top of everything, is the beautiful property and cottage. We specially enjoyed the fires in the evening to take the chill off. So much better than a heater!! Hopefully if we return to Costa Rica, we will be able to enjoy your services. Thank you so much. Diana B. Denton-Texas

November 10, 2003

November 12, 2003

Dear Lorena, Ruben, Doña Carmen y todos los chiquitos lindos,. Smiling faces, kind reasoning words, tenderness, personal complete care, loving generosity and grace ness. Here are only some of the many words that came to mind and I think back at your stay and hospitality. Not to mention gourmet meals! Surgery is always a fear inducing experience in any country, and surgery away from your own country can be particularly frightening. Your kindness and complete attention at all levels made this experience an “almost” pleasant one. The surrounding beauty only helps to increase the level of peace and serenity. I sincerely hope you will visit me in Colorado. Les espero para esquiar en Vail, y siempre tienen una casa conmigo. Sinceramente. Yvonne A.

November 18, 2003

Lorena and Ruben, before I came to Costa Rica, I was nervous, unsure, and very anxious. When I met you both in person there was a rush of calmness! Both of you have a kindness and gentleness within you that is just amazing! I can honestly say that staying at Che Tica has been my best experience away from home the hospitality for exceeded my expectations; and your staff is excellent and so it is the food! I hope that you have many blessings in all your endeavors and that Che Tica flourishes with abundance to many great things. Love Sandra K.

December 14, 2003

Ruben and Lorena, I can’t tell you how much this trip has enriched my live. Thank you so much for sharing your family with me. I got quite homesick at times, but your family made it quite “bearable”. Mama was a blessing to me helping me through embarrassing moments. Lorena, thank you for pushing me to see Dr. Kaver for my bridge. It never would have happened otherwise. Good thing nobody wanted a tattoo; hard telling what I would have xxx home with. The food was excellent, and will help me get back into eating healthy again. Helen is a gem hold onto her. My next visit will be pleasure only, but will visit with my new family, you helped me get off of the “the second” schedule and just relax and take care of myself. Thank you so much. God bless Elaine E. Warsaw, IN.

December 20, 2003

Dear Ruben and Lorena, I am back again! Told you I would be. Upon returning to your home I was welcomed once again by your beautiful family as if I had never left. I hope the vacation to New Orleans is filled with rest and relaxation and some well-deserved time alone together! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and that the New Year brings you all the happiness you deserve! Take care of each other. Love. Ximena
