Read a letter from a recent guest to her friend, and better understand the joy of choosing CheTica Ranch as your Recovery Center:
"I stayed at CheTica from Aug. 20 to Sept 8 (2004) and loved it! I do not think having a coffee pot, microwave, and small refrigerator in every cabin can be called "rustic." Each cabin has a name and is decorated in a manner that befits that name. They are all very different from each other. Lorena and Ruben took a short vacation to New Orleans while I was there and Ruben returned with wonderful ideas on changing one of the rooms into a New Orleans theme. He's going to add a balcony and use the decorations he brought back with him; and I think he said he'd name it "Bourbon St."
Ruben built their home and has built every cabin himself. He also does beautiful carving and has carved many beautiful benches and other furniture. He has built a new social center which is almost ready for use; and he is working toward having every cabin wired for internet so that anyone with a laptop can work from his cabin. The new social center will be wired with internet also.
In regard to bugs, there were no more bugs inside than at home (only those you allow inside if you leave the door open--just like at home). Outside, at night, they have beautiful, large fireflies like we used to have in the States before we polluted everything so badly and killed them all off. Except their fireflies are even larger than the ones we had in SC and Georgia.
The food is fantastic; and for the first time in my life, I actually got the recommended daily amount of fruit. Their bananas are the best I ever tasted, and they have fruit juice at every meal. They don't use salt in the food but it tastes as if it's been salted, which is great for people with blood pressure problems.
I could happily retire permanently to one of their cabins. If you go, please tell everyone hello from Dee and I miss them all terribly.
Dee from SC"
